Reduce Flammability, Maintain Airflow

Stop sparks before they spread. Our treated cotton canvas self-extinguishes in under 2 seconds, which meets the NFPA 701 after-flame limits and confirms the material will resist sustained combustion. Common uses include:

Welding & grinding screens: Blocks sparks while letting fumes escape.
• Hot-work covers on construction sites: Shields nearby materials during cutting or torching.
• Emergency heat shield: Create quick barriers around boilers, generators, or heaters.
• Farm and heavy-equipment covers: Protects machinery that is still warm after shutdown.

These tarps are typically chosen over vinyl and poly options in situations where breathability is important, as the canvas material allows airflow and helps prevent condensation, while still providing robust fire protection

The Superior Flame-Resistant Cotton Canvas Tarp

Humphrys began in 1874 sewing heavy cotton canvas covers for Conestoga wagons—the freight haulers of the day. These covers were tough then, and they are still tough now. Each tarp starts with premium cotton duck that is treated for lasting water resistance. The reliable construction that served 19th‑century wagon drivers still defines every cotton canvas tarp we make today.

Check out this advertisement we ran back in the early 70s —it’s a reminder that quality never goes out of style.

American Greatness in Every Stitch

For 150 years, we have turned heavy cotton duck into flame-resistant covers built to work. Every tarp is still treated, cut, sewn, grommeted, and packed by hand in Indiana. From equipment covers to welding stations, you get a flame-resistant canvas cover that is ready for the long haul.

Flat Hem with Grommets: This standard hem has double-layer edges, #4 rolled-rim brass grommets, and spur washers. Each grommet measures 1/2"  inside diameter.

Made in America, these weather-resistant brass parts work well outdoors and resist corrosion. The breathable cotton canvas material withstands harsh conditions while remaining secure.

Grommets with Reinforced Patches: Recommended for higher tension settings like camping shelters, this version adds three extra layers of canvas around each grommet for added strength. It uses the same #4 rolled-rim brass grommets and spur washers as the flat hem. Made in America, it provides extra stability under stress.

D-rings with Reinforced Patches: Designed for tasks like securing truck bed loads, this style includes reinforced canvas patches and steel-plated zinc D-rings. Each 1-1/8-inch D-ring is sewn onto seat belt webbing for stronger hold. Four-layer reinforced patches add further durability. Made in America, they perform well in tough conditions.
